steroid withdrawal

Hi ladies, Just looking for some advice. I stopped all medications yesterday, including 3mg/day dexamethasone, and have been awake all night with chronic joint pain. I can't walk - my knees and hips hurt so badly it is making me cry in pain. I've been online and it says that sudden withdrawal of steroids can do this and that side effects can be serious. So I've taken 2mg dexamethasone this morning to try to stop it but so far the pain has not stopped. Has anybody else experienced this? I've take...

Hello all

Hi Erin, Welcome to FZ! This site is great and the ladies are amazing - I'm sure you'll get addicted to popping in quite soon! When do you start your ivf cycle? There are threads set up each month so you can chat to people who are cycling at the same time as you, which are really helpful. I'm currently cycling and am in the October thread - there's a thread already set up for November and a one for December will no doubt be set up very soon! Good luck with your journey. Connie xx

advice on the endometrail scratch please. . .

Hi Da berries, I had an endometrial scratch done for my last cycle - am currently on the 2WW so don't know if it has worked yet! My consultant does think it helps with implantation and I know from being on this site that a lot of other physicians believe in it too. There's quite a few ladies on here that have had it done. I won't lie though in that I did find it a bit painful. However, it is very quick, with only very mild, period type cramps afterwards that also disappear after a couple of hour...

Confused

Just wanted to pop in to say I started cycloprogynova on Day 5 of my cycle. Agree with the other ladies though that you should probably call the clinic and ask them to clarify. Good luck! Connie xx

Hi, I'm a Newbie to this site!

Hi CJ, Unfortunately I'm on cycle number 6 - after 4 unsuccessful cycles, I had immunes testing done which threw up some issues, which is why I am now on every drug on the trolley! Here's hoping the addition of metformin to this cycle helps this be the one that works!! Did you hear back from your consultant yet? I tend to chase mine if I don't hear within a reasonable time - they know their stuff when it comes to treatment but most of them are sooooo disorganised!! C xx

Hi, I'm a Newbie to this site!

Hi CJ, Welcome to FZ! This site is amazing as there are lots of ladies on here, all with different stories, backgrounds and experience with fertility treatment, which is really helpful, especially when you are feeling a bit lost or lonely on your TTC journey. I also start metformin in a couple of weeks (I'm taking it for immune issues) so would be interested to know how you find it. I hope your consultant gets back to you with a decision very soon - the hardest part in all of this is the waiting...

Newbie questions

Hi Pinklady, Welcome to FZ! I'm sure you will love it here as there are lots of ladies to talk to and answer any questions. FZ has been a lifeline to me as I find it very difficult to talk to anybody about treatment - on here it's very easy as we are all going through similar things. Regarding side effects, it depends what you're taking but the worst side effect I have had was headaches from buserelin (and I've taken lots of different things now!!). You do tend to feel a bit bloated just before ...

Another newbie to this site

Hi Kamz, Welcome to FZ! Whereabouts in the UK are you based? It might be worth checking out the HFEA website (or info on FZ) to see what clinics are close by. I can only really comment on the clinics I've been to, which are CARE and MFS in Manchester. CARE seems to have a very good reputation (which was why I moved to them from MFS after 4 failed attempts), but they are definitely more expensive than MFS, less organised and much less friendly than MFS (the nurses at MFS were amazing whereas the ...

Azoospermia no normal forms anyone had this and bfp?

Hi HollyBolly, I didn't want to just read and run but am not sure if I can be of any help... Azoospermia means that there is a very low/undetectable level of sperm in a semen analysis. I'm afraid I don't know you / your partners history - were you informed of this? Is there a reason why you are using frozen samples rather than fresh? I'm not sure what "no normal forms" means (I would guess that it might mean the sperm they found didn't look okay but this would really just be a guess) - did they ...

day after embryo transfer

Hi Sam, The bleeding situation must be driving you mental!! Given everything that' happened though, I would definitely test on Wednesday so that you know for sure one way or the other (I am still hopeful for you if that helps?!!). Re: testing early, lots of ladies do it but I think you have to be aware that the result might not be accurate.... As Ellie says, an early positive could be due to the drugs (the hCG trigger shot still in your system is the same chemical that the test picks up) and an ...

day after embryo transfer

Hi Sam, I have had my period a few days before test date but never as early as you have. How are you doing today? Has the bleeding calmed down or do you think it is a proper period? I'd still be tempted to test on your test date as you never know with these things - your body has been messed with so much that there's probably various possible explanations for the bleeding. I hope you're feeling okay - the 2WW really does drive you a bit bonkers! C xx

day after embryo transfer

Hi Sam, Welcome to FZ. So sorry to hear your news today - is it definitely your period? I know some ladies have had spotting after embryo transfer so just thought i'd ask - it seems a bit early for your period if you weren't due to test till the 14th. Have you called the clinic for advice? I really hope it isn't over but sending you lots of anyway. Connie xx

Info about intralipids/steroids/clotting etc, following immunology test results

Hi Rosa, I've taken the drugs you mention for my last 3 cycles and the only real side effect I had was an increased appetite from the steroids. I bruised like a peach with the cleaxane injections mind, and the bruises took weeks to go away - I went on holiday and looked like a battered wife in my bikini!! To be honest, the only drug I've taken that I don't like at all is buserelin - I can't cope with the headaches and hot sweats. If you can cope with buserelin then these will be a breeze!! I rea...

IVF without genetical risk - new technique NGS

Hi Britta, I don't know anything about NGS but have just googled it and found that the guy responsible for the NGS testing that's led to the first NGS-screened IVF baby (born in the US) is based at Nuffield Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology. His name is Dagan Wells. Have you heard of him? One of the reports online says that there will be a UK-based trial initiated using NGS in Oxford. Maybe you could contact him for info? I'm afraid I don't know anything about treatment abroad either alth...
