Selling unused IVF drugs?

Ok thanks. Maybe I should stand outside our locally chippy to see if anyone wants some progesterone with their smack! Only kidding. I'll take them to the pharmacy. I saw someone has listed cyclogest on ebay. Thought ebay would have taken that down. Ah well. All in all, £5000 down the drain so a few quid here and there won't make a difference. Phoebs x

Selling unused IVF drugs?

Hi Our IVF journey has come to an abrupt end today before I even had the chance to start the cyclogest pessaries. Does anyone know whether it is legal to sell these drugs on and, if so, where the best place to do this is? Not sure I'd want to buy fertility drugs from ebay but you never know, someone might want them. Seems daft just to chuck them as they are so expensive. Thanks all Phoebe

Down Regulating with Buserelin injections - no side effects yet

Hi I've started down regulating with buserelin injections on Tuesday this week (today is the third day of injections) and I've had no real side effects yet (some tiredness and the odd spot). Is this normal? I'm a bit concerned because on Tuesday I drew up and injected using a fine needle, yesterday and I drew up and injected using a long, thick needle because no one at the clinic had explained that the long ones were for drawing up and the then you had to swop to the fine ones. Today I put a lon...

ovulating once every 8 wks

While cbfm is a useful guide it's not 100% foolproof. Only a thorough fertility work up will tell you what's going on. Have you had any blood tests done? Like follicle stimulating hormone etc. All is not lost. I can't tell you how many stories I've heard and people I've met who've had surprises in their 40 even when they've adopted kids and had early forms of ivf etc back in the day. Phoebs x

Clearblue Fertilty Monitor query AGAIN!

Monitor requested testing from day 6 again, third cycle in a row. Weird. Don't know why it would suddenly start doung that after 3 other cycles. Anyway, didn't test on day 6, 7 or 8 because we had so few sticks left. Going to start tomorrow and see if it buggers the whole thing up or not. Getting fed up with not being pregnant and wanting to be. Pooooo to miscarriages! Phoebs x

Clearblue Fertilty Monitor query AGAIN!

Thanks both. I think that the ten test block thing must be it - day 6 to 15 is ten tests and I didn't peak until 16/17. Blinking nuisance, now I only have 7 sticks left for next month if it hasn't worked this month. I wonder if I don't test for several of the first few days whether it would screw up the whole cycle? What do you think? I've been so precise (anally so!) with it that I'd hate to mess it up. Getting a bit disillusioned with it now though. Keep thinking it should have worked by now l...

Clearblue Fertilty Monitor query AGAIN!

Hi I'm using the cb fertilty monitor for the third cycle in a row but the 7th cycle in total. This cycle I started testing on cd 6 and it's now cd 20 and it's still asking me to test. Why?? I've already had two peak days and several highs. Bit cross as I've had to start using next month's ten sticks (we had 4 left over from last cycle) and I really don't want to buy more. I don't understand why it's getting me to test for so long, it's never done that before. Last cycle I tested from cd 6, had m...

Implantation Bleeding - What's it like??

Hi I'm on cd 24 and 9-10 dpo. I usually have a cycle anywhere from 25-27 days in length, so should be due on in a couple of day's time. This morning I've had some dark brown spotting, with a little red/pink, which has now pretty much stopped and has not got heavier. I've never had any spotting prior to af before and don't normally get spotting for any other reason. Of course when I saw it I just assumed it was af coming early but now that it's stopped, I'm not sure and I'm wondering if it's the ...

Fertility Monitor...Help!

After ten days of testing, the third bar finally showed up on cycle day 15. Just goes to show how variable our hormones and bodies are.

ovulating quick question

Hi The peak days mean the machine has detected lutenising hormone which means you are just about to ovulate. When you'rr ttc, it's better to have lots of sperm in there waiting to pounce when the egg's released. Bit trickier to hit the egg once it's released. So if you got a peak day reading today, it's still a good day to do the deed unless of course you're to exhausted!! The monitor is great - it's shown my cycle is different every time which goes a long way to explaining why things didn't wor...

ovulating quick question

Hi We use the cb fertility monitor too and have managed to get pregnant twice using it, both times on the second cycle of use :-) In both those cases we did the deed once during high (two bar) days and once on peak (three bar) days - just circumstances prevented a better effort. Last month we went for it hammer and tong and got nothing. I think it's still very much luck of the draw and as long as you havr sex regularly during your fertile window, then you're increasing your chances. Not sure it'...

Fertility Monitor...Help!

Hi I've been using the Clearblue Fertility Monitor over the past year. It help me to get pregnant twice last year both times on the second cycle of use but unfortunately we lost both babies. Each cycle we've used it has been different although two have been similar (cycle 2 and cycle 5). We started using it again last month (cycle 5) and had a typical cycle: started testing at cycle day 8, had a 3-4 high days then two peaks and one other high day. This cycle has been mad. It asked me to start te...

Oxford Fertiltiy CLinic experience/open days/

Hi again...sedation feels just like a general anaesthetic but the meds work differently and don't put you under for as long. You will feel groggy and sleepy for several hours afterwards and won't be able to drive, cook, iron, use hesvy machinery etc for 48 hours afterwards. You will be kept at the unit until you are able to walk and pee (just in case something has accidentally happened to your bladder) and you will be given tea and biscuits too. My dh was with me until i went in and was there wh...

How do I help them?

When cr*p has happened to me, I always appreciate it when people are honest and say, 'This is just so awful, I'm lost and don't know what to do to help.' I hate it when people just ignore it and pretend everything is okay or the same. You are in a unique position: you have experienced the horrors of infertility and the joy of being pregnant and having a baby. So you know how wildly your emotions can swing - one day you're desperate for a baby, the next convincing yourself you're better off as yo...

Oxford Fertiltiy CLinic experience/open days/

Hi! We did our first ivf at OFU when they were based at John Radcliffe and the result was dd who turned two yesterday. We signed up for round two in the new location, very swanky, in August but didn't conitue because i'd fallen pg naturally (after ttc for 5 years, go figure!). We hadn't finished the internal scans in August so they offered me an early pg scan instead and when i miscarried two weeks later, i rang them to discuss our options. They were great and said to come in for the pre-ivf sca...

URGENT!!! About to start my first cycle but forgot to come off the pill 3 days ago!!!!! Will I have to reschedule?

Your post made me smile: when i was down regging for ivf i was using the nasal spray and wondered after a fortnight or so why it wasn't squirting properly and i kept doing two squirts per nostril twice a day twice as much as i was meant to but itdidn't seem like much was coming out. Anyway, i was watching tv one night when i suddenly remembered something in the instructions that i was meant to start a new bottle of spray on day 14 of the down reg. Ooops! Mad panic as it was day 16! D'oh - the fi...
