Anyone had CVS or amniocentesis?

So my nuchal results came back with an elevated chance of chromosonal problems - 1:105 and we will have further testing. Has anyone had these done? Interested in hearing your stories. I can't believe that I now am facing a whole new worry, a whole new period of uncertainty and anxiety. Every bloody pregnancy something has to go wrong - I can't believe it - still it may still be nothing but I am feeling pretty PO'ed right now. (sorry - little outburst there)

** FIRST TRIMESTER CHAT **

Hi ladies - first of all - congrats to all of you...it is hard to believe that I am here and I am sure some of you are feeling the same way. So far my preg seems to be going well - saw a HB at 6 weeks and am 7w3d now. I will have another scan on Thursday as I had over to my obgyn at 8 weeks. I am on all kinds of patches, pills, suppositories and injections to support this one and so far things seem to be going OK. My IVF doc decided straight away that she thinks I am insulin resistent - and just...

when can I resume "relations"

2nd trimester!? But that is a whole nother 4 months away!!!!!!!! ack! LOL ah well - I am sure I have been through longer dry spells in my life and survived them. As long as peanut is safe. I remember in my first preg early on I had big cramping after an O and avoided them for ages but once I got back on it - they were the best side effect of pregnancy! Bigger and better than ever before. I mourned the loss of my big Os after Owen was born LOL. I must see about getting clearance from the doc on t...

when can I resume "relations"

To all you ladies who have had multiple problems and who have been told to abstain from nookie, when has your doctor told you that it is safe to get busy again? Mine never gave a timeframe - but surely this can't be indenfinite!? Also I am thinking Orgasms count too...in fact would they be more concerning than baby dancing? Interested to hear what the doctors have said.

gestational sac measuring small - any good news stories out there?

Thanks ladies for your messages - esp Kelly for sending me a private message to let me know you had responded - sometimes I forget what I and posted and where. So since the last scan I have been back and one has gone but thankfully the other has grown - still too early for a heart beat and I honestly won't feel better until I have seen a good, regular heartbeat - the 2 babies that I saw heart beats for both stuck - at least through the first trimester. ( I have had 3 early mcs, 1 d&c after the h...

gestational sac measuring small - any good news stories out there?

HI I have just had IVF - egg retrieval (aka ovulation) was on 15th April. So far it seems I am pregnant. Yesterday I went in for a scan to see whether I am dealing with twins or a singleton. I was only expecting to see gestational sac - no heartbeat so my expectations were low. There were 2 - 1 much smaller that the other but they were both small. The doc said that they looked more like 3.5 weeks - not 5. Now I am worried - I don't know where to hang my feelings. I can't get excited because I am...

nearing 40...which way now?

elpi, I am sorry that you are feeling so frustrated. I am nearing 40 as well (July....ugh) and am currently having IVF (transfer tomorrow). I understand the frustration - it is so hard to plan, progress or live your life when you have been trying for so long, waiting around just in case.... I have actually made the decision that I am going to stop trying this year - (4 years of trying 5 lost babies) - I am just done. But my husband and I decided that the IVF would be our hail mary shot. If it wo...

Feeling fed up

Thanks Mummy#2....we are in a similar position. It is funny because after we lost Charlie, Owen stopped asking for a sister or brother (although he had been pretty determined that he wanted a sister). I think he was very sensitive to the situation. But still I often hear other children asking him about whether he has a baby at home...or other people asking him if he has a brother or sister and I hate that it not only reminds me but also reminds him that he doesn't have one....I fear it will make...

Feeling fed up

Oh Pootle - that is lovely that you had a result 1st time....I met with ivf consultant in Aberdeen - but I think we will try Miami because we only need to be away from home for 2 weeks instead of the 8-10 if I do it in Aberdeen. It is more pricey over here though - but it just isn't practical to be away for that long, especially with Owen in tow. Seeing your siggie - funny because Owen was preemie as well - 34 weeks and 4lb11 - placental abruption.....so maybe I will follow your path.

Feeling fed up

I have one beautiful boy who is 3 1/2. In August 2007 we started trying again and have had: Sept 2007: 1 with no heartbeat at 9 weeks - D&C 5 natural IUI - BFNs 2 drug assisted IUIs - 1 over stimulated and abandoned and the other 1 follicle - BFN Jan 2009 - mc 5 weeks Apr 2009 BFP....diagnosed severe oligohydramnios (no amniotic fluid). Baby had 0% chance of survival - induced and delivered Charlie at 22 weeks on September 15th- he never took a breath. His autopsy showed that due to a bad cell s...

So I have changed my appt - to a week later - it seemed too early to me - they don't usually see the heart beat until after you are 6 weeks preg (not in the 6th week if you see what I mean). The nurse agreed and moved it. But I am in my 5th week which is usually when I lose them so I am on pins and needles (although this one has now outlasted Bean 4 by 2 days - yippee!). Because of my concerns the doc has asked me to have blood taken today and then friday to check my HCG levels and make sure the...

LOL Moogle...perhaps not...at least not in this climate! My scan is on Thurs 14th - is that the day before yours? - I know it will just be the slowest 2 weeks EVER. But I have 2 tests left and I will take one on Tuesday ish and then one the following weekend as status checks (Last time I know I was miscarrying because I got positives for a couple of days followed by negatives for a few days then mc....so I want to see +ves on each of the tests I do between now and scan. Moogle, has your doc put you on progesterone? Mine has me double dosing until W10 - aparently it is supposed to help support the pregnancy....I would try standing on my head, kicking my legs and whistling the nathional anthem if that helped!

Hi all - WOW!! HUge congrats Moogle - that is fantastic news!!! Wel I hope you all have saved a little sticky dust because as it turns out I need some too!!! I was just finalising timings and about to book flights to come over for the ivf and you could have knocked me down with a feather when I got a positive this morning....after 2 years of trying. Now my trick will be to keep Bean 5 because I have a tendency to lose them - esp around W5 - so please send me as much sticky dust as you can spare ...
