9 month old, suddenly doesn't like to be spoon fed.

Thanks for that, I may see if I can loan it from the library. We eat around the table too, and LM really enjoys being part of it. Your right, its definately good to teach them how to behave around a table. She loves pasta and bolognese, but I didn't think of it giving it to her as a finger food as thought it might be too slippy for her to pick up, but I shall give it a ago. Mind you, if she can pick up banana which is very slippy, then I am sure she'll master the art of picking up the pasta. I s...

9 month old, suddenly doesn't like to be spoon fed.

Thanks to all of your responses. She did actually let me feed her some cauliflower cheese today, which she normally woofs down, but after 5/6 spoons she started crying and wouldn't let me feed her any more. So I gave her an assortment of finger food and she took that. She does like playing with the spoon, but ends up putting it down the back of her throat and gagging, but I suppose its all part of the learning game. Thanks for your idea's on the finger foods. I have been up till now, concentrati...

9 month old, suddenly doesn't like to be spoon fed.

The title says it all really! Has anyone else noticed their babies do this? Lilee-Mary has always been a really good eater and will take whatever is given to her, so we've been really lucky in that respect. Now, I am noticing (only in the last few days) that if I try and spoon feed her, she gets all upset but if I give her finger foods, like toast, fruit, rice cakes, pizza, etc, she is fine. She has had a mild tummy infection since last Saturday and the doctor said it could be this, but I read ...

Dropping feeds - confused!

Thank you both for your replies. Well today we had a bit more success! Last night we dropped the DF and she woke up this morning at 7.20am - whoop whoop. Lets hope she makes a thing of this. And secondly, I dropped the lunch bottle and she didn't moan this time. In fact when I gave her, her 3.30pm bottle she left 2oz of it! She has now just polished off her dinner and so she will have her 6oz bed time bottle and then FINGERS CROSSED she won't wake up until 7.20am again! ha ha, lets see.

Dropping feeds - confused!

I forgot to say that she drinks water with her meals, albeit not that much, but I offer her the sippy cup and she takes a few glugs.

Dropping feeds - confused!

Hello, I am after some advice please. Firstly, it was suggested to me yesterday, when I took my LO to be weighed, that I drop her lunch time bottle. I was a bit surprised by this as most of my friends who have babies too, didn't do this until their babies were at 8-9 months - my LO is now 7 months. Anyway, I thought I would start today so I fed her, 4oz bottle at 7.30am (she normally has 6oz but if you read below all will become clear), porridge with plum at 8.30am, 3/4 mashed banana at 10.15 (b...

How many naps during day & rolling onto tummy

Hi thanks everyone for your advice, I do feel a lot better now knowing that what she is doing is *normal*. Today so far she got up at 7am (after having 11 hours sleep) and then had went to sleep from 8.30-9.30am, and she has just begun to start flagging so I've popped her in her cot and she has just gone off. As for the rolling, I was a bit of a nightmare last night to my shame. My own fault really, I read an article about rolling over and SIDS and it sent the willies up me. I couldn't sleep ver...

How many naps during day & rolling onto tummy

Hi, I know each baby is different and all that but I was just wondering on average, how many naps does a 5 month old need during the day? My LO who will be 20 weeks tommorow, has only just started having regular naps during the day. She gets up between 7 and 8am each day, and about 2-2.5 hours later must have a nap for about an hour. She will then stay awake for another couple of hours and start getting narky again so she will have a sleep, only for about 30 mins usualy but today it was 1.5 hour...

Earlier bedtime, later waking in the morning????

Hi BGE, how's it going since your last post? LM goes to bed normally between 6.30 and 7pm. I was told by my HV to try and get her to sleep nearer to 7pm but sometimes she is just so knackered before this time, so we put her down. When we did put her to bed later than 7, she decided to wake up at 4am!!! She only started sleeping through the night a few weeks ago, and she is now 3 months. She used to wake up every morning at 5am without fail! But now she normally sleeps till about 7 or 8am. She no...

Any tips on getting my baby to settle in the evening?

Thanks for all of your replies, sorry for the delay though, have the MIL staying with us at the moment so cant get on the computer as much as I want to! We've had a few better days. Monday wasn't great, but Tuesday and Weds has been better. She slept a lot better last night and only cried for about an hour around 8pm, and then settled. She didn't fall asleep straight away but didn't cry and then slept from 10-12, then from 12.30-4, and then 5-8, so we managed to get some sleep. I am hoping she d...

Any tips on getting my baby to settle in the evening?

Hello, As the title suggests, my LO is a bit difficult when it comes to settling her at night. She is only 6 weeks old but a friend of mine said that she should be getting into a routine by now! I don't know how much of this is true? I am combination BF and bottle. She normally has a top-up of an evening and is drinking about 100-120ml each feed. Sometimes she will go down after I have winded her, but other times she will be so unsettled. We've had a few days now where she has cried from 8pm til...

feel like baby only relates to me for food

Hi Gemma, Glad to hear that the MW is going to call you for a chat. I can completely understand where you are coming from. I had a bit of a traumatic birth too and it took a while for my LO to latch on but now BF is going ok. I have also not been well and have 2 infections. I also sometimes feel very much feel like a milking machine at times, and a few days ago all I could do was cry, but the last couple of days I have been feeling better. I have got out of the house on my own with her. Its a bi...

Help - day six and no sign of my milk coming in

Hi there NH, Firstly congratulations on your Boxing Day baby! I gave birth to a baby girl on Christmas Day and named her Lilee too! I can only echo the other posts and say that you can't say you didn't try. I had a similar problem with the BF, at the start my little girl wouldnt latch on because she tongue-tie which they clipped, but for for the first 3/4 days she wouldnt latch on. I had to express manually into a syringe and feed her that way. I felt like a complete failure as everyone else on ...

Stabbing Pains and change in CM

Hi, I am 38 weeks and have noticed a lot more stabbing pains down below, that take my breath away. I've also noticed quite a few pains around my ovaries a bit like period pains and my CM has changed in colour (a bit more yellow) and in smell too. I don't have a UTI as had my pee checked a few days ago at MW appt. She said that my baby's head is 3/5 engaged. Just wondered if anyone else has experienced the same thing? I guess I just don't want to go over due and am looking for signs that my baby ...
