NEW PARENT CHAT THREAD

Welcome Lynsey, great to see new mummies joining. Best thing for nappy rash is leaving your little boys nappy off. I know it could potentially be messy but it really does help. Hi to everyone else, I'm sorry I've been absent for so long but have been wrapped up in my wee Isla bubble while hubby has been away and found it difficult to get on here. Glad to see all your lo's are doing well and getting so big. As EE said, we've been meeting up weekly and it's so lovely to share this time with anothe...

NEW PARENT CHAT THREAD

Thanks Heather and Net, I made a carrot, parsnip and sweet potato soup today and she had a few spoonfuls and definitely enjoyed it so that is obviously the way to go. She also seems to prefer food that has come from my plate!! Xxx

NEW PARENT CHAT THREAD

Great news wmg sounds like baby is all snuggled in. Hi to everyone, I'm afraid this is going to be a quickie as Isla is having a nano but is bound to wake any minute. Got a weaning question, did any of your older lo's refuse savoury things but guzzle sweet things? I have tried Isla with baby rice and a savoury Ella's Kitchen pouch but she absolutely refused and then yesterday she guzzled some yoghurt and some fresh pear. I'm terrified she is going to have a really sweet tooth and never eat anyth...

NEW PARENT CHAT THREAD

Happy New Year Ladies great to catch up with you all, sorry i've been absent but we've been away for a while and i still struggle to get on here. Was lovely to see all your christmas pics on facebook, looks like all our lo's were spoiled. Hope all the nasty bugs are clearing up now. Moogle i was thinking of you all on Brodie's birthday. Big has K had any more teeth? Isla is sporting 2 beauties and they managed to come through without too much grumpiness. to those of you starting treatment, i've ...

nervous about how i'll cope with delivery after previous loss

Hi Sunflowerliz So sorry you lost your precious twins. I lost my baby girl Evie 2 years ago, she was born at full term and died when she was 4 days old after suffering a bleed in her brain. our wee rainbow is now 4 and a half months old and brings us so much happiness every day. There is no doubt it will be an extremely emotional time but I got through her birth by focusing on the end result. I was just so determined that we were going to bring this little one home with us. Thankfully it was a v...

NEW PARENT CHAT THREAD

Hi ladies, sorry for being awol but like Moogle i struggle to get on here these days (and i only have one lo). Hope all your poorly little ones are on the mend soon, we've got all that to come. Well, Isla is doing great and growing so much. She still only cat-naps in the day, hence why i've been absent for ages. She is currently round at a friends house for a practise run because my friend is having her all day next Wednesday while Phil and i spend the day at a spa being pampered. We won voucher...

NEW PARENT CHAT THREAD

Thank you so much everyone for your lovely words. It looks like I'm fishing for sympathy but I'm honestly not, just felt I needed to explain why I'm not much good at offering support just now. I will be back when my meds have settled and who knows, maybe Isla will start having slightly longer naps if she has a more chilled-out mummy? I can't really help Buzzbee I'm afraid, Isla usually doesn't have too much trouble falling asleep, she just doesn't stay asleep. I'd leave Isabella to sleep as long...

Thank you EE and Buzzbee, i feel much better knowing your LO's eat more frequently too. My HV is lovely but when she says these things it does make me worry. Isla is still following the 9th centile beautifully so i'm not really worried about her weight gain but i keep listening to (well intentioned) advice and not trusting my own instincts, something to do with my absolute lack of confidence i think. Thanks again lovelies. xxx

NEW PARENT CHAT THREAD

Ok, try again. I've popped her in bed and now she is crying through the monitor but is settling down at last. Buzzbee, i'm afraid if Isabella is anything like Isla these longer naps will be flukes and by tomorrow she will be back to 20-30 minutes at a time. I truly hope not though. I reckon it all catches up with Isla and about once every 10 days she will have a really long nap (morning or afternoon) because she is just so friggin tired. She's still good most nights though so it's not like she's...

NEW PARENT CHAT THREAD

Hi folks Not posted for a bit but still having my daily battle with Isla and her day naps!!! Stil only going for 20-30 mins at a time so i just cant do anything some days. She has just fed and is screaming in her bouncy chair just now, she's been really clingy for a few days and i'm not sure what's going on with her. Anyway, furiously typing now as she is really distresed. Sorry for not doing any personals but i just dont have time. Just wanted to ask a couple of breast feeding questions. Do you...

NEW PARENT CHAT THREAD

Hi Ladies Just a quickie from me as, yet again, i'm trying to get Isla to nap so may have to leave and go and shush her back to sleep if her crying escalates. Buzzbee, yes Isla still mostly sleeps on her tummy. I'm going to try and hold off putting her in her room in her cot until she can roll over then it doesn't matter what position she sleeps in and the risk of SIDS is reduced once they can move around and roll themselves. I was put to sleep on my tummy as a baby and still prefer to sleep lik...

Don't think you're criticising Hmc hun, I'm glad of all tips and advise from everyone so thank you. Don't envy you 2 stroppy ones in the house lol!! Hope your youngest doesn't make that 3 stroppy people. Talking of poo Isla goes several times a day, is that excessive? Have a good Halloween Moogle hun, we're opting out this year, Isla not got a clue what's going on anyway, will get more involved when she's older. Need to go, yet again Isla is over-tired and struggling to settle bless her. Hiya Be...

NEW PARENT CHAT THREAD

Lots of interesting chat ladies, it's great. Hmc I'm only really bothered about Isla's lack of naps because by evening time she is so over-tired and grumpy she is a nightmare. If she would only fall asleep on me I'd happily kick back on the sofa and enjoy every second but she stopped doing that weeks ago. Hopefully she will get better when she's a bit older. Love reading about everyone's routines, it's very helpful. Lots of love to you all. Xxx

NEW PARENT CHAT THREAD

Yay well done Kira on the weight gain. She's with wee Isla on the 9th centile!! Isla has slowed down a bit and her last weight on Monday was just below the 9th line whereas she has always been bang on it. Like K she is perfectly healthy but it does make you a wee bit paranoid about your milk doesn't it? Morning to all. Just a quicky while Isla is napping....oh no spoke too soon, can hear moaning on the monitor. Oh well. Off for a lovely massage tomorrow morning which i'm looking forward to, it w...

12 week old hates her car seat!!!

Thank you ladies, lots of good tips for us to try. I think it's the position she is in that's the problem. She is fine lying down on the floor but when she is upright she wants to be properly upright or standing and obviously she is just too little for a normal child seat. We actually have 2 seats but they both have baby in a similar position where they are in between lying and sitting, i guess its for support. We will persevere. Thanks again. xx

I'm afraid we let Isla "shout it out" I know not everyone approves but it has worked for Isla. It was very hard to listen to her cry at first but now she doesn't cry at all and just has a wee moan in protest. It is a total nightmare knowing if you are doing the right thing or not but my HV says babies have very short memories and so it shouldn't have any lasting effects. Isla certainly doesn't seem to hold it against us bless her. Xxx

Buzzbee, it will definitely get easier. We started with Isla at about 8 weeks and it was awful listening to her cry but we didn't let it go on too long. Now we can put her to bed wide awake with very little fuss so it does pay off in the end. Just have to conquer daytime naps now!! Btw, she slept almost 2 hours this afternoon think it was a fluke though. Xxx

12 week old hates her car seat!!!

Hi folks As title says, my little girl hates her car seat and i am almost at my wits end!! I cant face going anywhere in the car which is sooo limiting and i dont like using it with her buggy either. I'm interested to hear if anyones LO has been the same and how did you deal with it? I think it's the position she's in that she doesn't like but it'll be months before she can be in a more upright car seat so what on earth do we do in the meantime? She just cries and cries when we go anywhere and e...
