Metformin

I was prescribed Metformin throughout my pregnancy (gestational diabetes) and had my baby last year - all is well. Hated taking it though.

Endometrial cysts....anyone have any experience?

Hi Jasmine, I had to have an endometrioma removed in 2009 - followed by a second lap to remove stage IV endo which was all over the place. It helped me a lot - felt much more human afterward! Periods went a bit funny for a couple of months but then settled. They told me that my best chances of getting pregnant were in the 12 months after the op. (but we didn't know about our male factor issues at that stage!) I did get pregnant via IVF in the end and it wasn't as bad physically as I expected. Tr...

EEK! I've just been on the Jeremy vine show! it was suggested that before IVF you have a "moral duty" to consider adoption..... what do you think?

I listened to the show - you did well Suki. I did email a complaint in as I felt it was an ill-educated and irresponsible topic choice. The first chap was adopted yes, so he understands being adopted, however he had no understanding whatsoever of fertility issues or apparently the cost to the nhs per cycle (£12000 each apparently!). A show on adoption would be fine, as would a debate on whether the nhs should fund ivf or not.....but saying that we 'ivfers' (and not all' couples') have a moral ob...

SECOND TRI - Movements and kicks

Same here - since about 17 weeks and quite low down sometimes. Mine seems to dislike waistbands - I get a lot more movement when there is pressure!

Hello All, haven't been on for ages but my 16wk scan seemed a good reason to check in! We had the scan yesterday, measurements fine but the baby was uncooperative! Head right down the bottom so we couldn't get a good enough picture to show people! (and this after the 12wk one where I didn't have a full enough bladder! ) So clearly this child is camera-shy just like me and grandma! Adreamz - my MIL keeps using the phrase 'pregnant face' - I've told DH if she says it again then she doesn't get to ...

Rallygirl - exactly the same thing happened to me - 2 hb at 6 week scan, 1 at 8 weeks. I got a teeny tiny bit of spotting but nothing serious. I had additional scans at 10 and 12 weeks (because I was already in hospital with sepsis) and all is going well - just try and believe that your body knows what it is doing and that this is more common than anyone knows... Shell - for me, it's either constant small snacks (savoury rather than sugary) or licking/eating bits of a lemon. (which would look a bit weird in the classroom!) You could try lemon juice in water though?

Hello to all the new people! Looks like the JJs are doing pretty well! Anna - my nausea came and went for a bit - boobs stopped hurting quite early too. But then the hunger kicked in and I became an eating machine! Try not to worry (I know thats easier said than done) Scan was ok - ultrasound lady did the heart-stopping shaking her head thing, she was getting all over excited about my cysts (such old news for me!) and when we said she was freaking us out then she said sorry and that the baby was...

Yellowey Creamy leakage

This is the stuff I was on about the other day - mine varies from yellow to beige, some days there's loads and some there's less. Really annoying stuff but I don't think it is a problem itself, just irritating that I'd stupidly assumed I wouldn't need liners and pads for a while! Dang it.

Going for what should be our 12wk scan today....very nervous and very excited. I'm hoping we get a wave and the scan person doesn't scare us with anything. Not sure about the water though - still having bowel trouble after being so ill, if I drink a lot I just get more diarrhea than I can handle. Plus my swollen bowels are probably still in the way of an external scan...but the general ultrasound people don't seem to like doing internal ones if they can help it...so I'll just have to cross my le...

Sorry for the TMI in this post.....but I'm now 11 weeks and all of a sudden 'whoosh' comes loads of ewcm. I've read that this is normal, but mine seems to be yellowish-beige. My current theory is that I did have some spots of old blood knocking about (from when my other embryo stopped growing right at the beginning and was expelled) and the normal ewcm mixed with that to produce the vague beige. But it is still freaking me out....hopefully it will be clear again soon. But still weird to have so ...

Anyone having trouble with the smells of people? Ever since about 6 weeks I can't stand the smell of my Mum! It's horrifying and of course I can't tell her as she'd be really upset - but there's just something weird and fusty about her right now, particularly her breath. All her clothes and her car smell the same, plus anything of mine she touches! It really makes me feel sick....but it is making me feel like a terrible person! DH has sniffed her on my behalf, and told me it is definitely just m...

Taxi!! So happy to see you here! Many Congrats! Shelbie - mine was 40 inches before - but only when my bowels had shut down for 9 days....however I'm sure I'll be back to 40 soon enough! There was some discussion with my consultant about me being likely to show more as I'm such a short arse! Really not sure if/how I can pretend not to have a bump when I go back to work this week! Rocky - I'm hating the idea of going back to work - I've been loving my 'working from home without anyone seeing how ...

I'm off to the shops today to try and get some trousers! Back at work as of Wednesday - will be 11 weeks at that point. My consultant tells me that the swelling from my illness is unlikely to go down now so I'm stuck with it for the duration of the pregnancy....not what I wanted to hear but makes sense - my bowels can't go back to their normal spot as my uterus is moving about and growning I suppose. So, not much chance of hiding the bump at work, but got to hope they're too polite to say anythi...

Hi All, Popping in again, feeling a bit less ropey following the hospital stay and antibiotics etc. Got a follow up scan tomorrow (I'm about 10 weeks) which I'm hoping will reassure me that there's still someone in there! I can't get it out of my head that all of the strong drugs and side effects won't have caused some damage, but just got to hope not. DH is generally doing a great job of looking after me, although tonight he undercooked some chicken and insisted it was fine...he did notice that...

HOW IT FEELS - RANT CORNER

Ok, this one is about relatives who only value you for your potential baby making abilities - yes, I'm talking my Mother In Law!! I'm currently lucky enough to be 9 weeks pregnant after ICSI. However I was hospitalised for three weeks with sepsis (very serious infection) - I've been filled with every type of antibiotic, been repeatedly threatened with operations (which would be likely to terminate the pregnancy) and have lost one of what would have been twins. It has been incredibly stressful fo...

Just a quick note to say I haven't abandoned fz entirely, but I've been in hospital for 9 days! They're still not entirely sure what happened, it wasn't ohss but over a day my waist expanded to 40 inches! Very uncomfortable indeed - I'm full of a mix of ascites ( pockets of fluid) and gas. Tmi but had my first poo in 9 days this morning. Really hoping to be out soon, a lot smaller..then I can look forward to getting bigger more gradually!

Rocky, I'm the same - even my skin hurts! The bloating has made me do a complete wardrobe overhaul to get through the next few days - one massive pair of trousers and lots of elasticated skirts! I've stocked up on schoolbars, fruit and all sorts of snacks, hopefully it will help me stay awake through the day. I look absolutely wretched - not sure there's enough make up in my house to get me looking healthy! Will be sort of nice to be back at work and thinking about something else, but I'm dreadi...

What to expect next..

Depends on the consultant and the size of the cyst & endometrioma. Can only tell you what they did with mine: I had a 6cm one, first they scanned it, then put me on the pill for 3 months (it did nothing) then scanned again, then waited another three months for no apparent reason. Finally I went private and they went in for an immediate lap to remove it. One year on and I've got a 3cm one on the other side now! I'm doing ICSI at the moment and they thought my brand new endometrioma would stop me ...
