NEW PARENT CHAT THREAD

Net - I just wanted to say I am so sorry to hear what your daughter will have to go through because of this birth mark. I can't imagine how you must be feeling. Yes there are children who are more sick out there but it is still heartbreaking I'm sure knowing what your daughter will have to go through to try and help the situation. I completely understand the bullying issue, it's another fear of ours as a parent isn't it? We want them to be healthy and also to be happy and accepted at school. Sen...

NEW PARENT CHAT THREAD

OMG I am soooo tired! I was probably a bit smug with how DS slept as he sleeps fab and I don't recall having many bad nights with him, mostly good. We had a phase of night terrors but for the majority he has gone to bed without fuss and we don't hear from him until morning. DD on the other hand is completely different! I can't remember the last time she slept through, as in a solid 8 hours. The most she can manage is about 5 hours lately on a good night but she cries out a lot in her sleep ever...

NEW PARENT CHAT THREAD

Hi all Just popped in to say a quick hello. I haven't been on FZ for ages. I have a tablet and whenever I try to view this thread, or any other thread for that matter it goes blank so I gave up coming on as couldn't be bothered getting my laptop out LOL! Tonight though I am on my laptop so had a quick read of the recent posts. Net - sorry to hear your DD has been unwell lately. I think in those first 6 months of DS starting nursery he caught every bug going and I was forever taking time off work...

How did you potty train?

Hello Sorry ladies, I haven't logged onto FZ for a while. Life is hectic with 2 LOL! I'm pleased to report that my DS seems to be fully potty / toilet trained Well in the day that is! Since February he has been in underpants (pull ups to start with) in the day and there has been many accidents along the way and a few tears. Wees were fine, although he did have the occasional accident. Number 2's were harder to crack and he seemed to have a real phobia of 'letting go'. Even with a pull up on he d...

Amy - OMG how scary. I am relieved to hear it wasn't M and she is on the mend. I am on FB if you want to PM me to see pics of my LOs. Not everyone on my FB knows I went through IVF so I don't mention it on there and too worried to put pics on here in case anyone stumbled across it and reads my story, although I know it probably wouldn't happen. I know it's nothing to be ashamed of. Hopefully your LO will start to sleep better now the viral is easing Net - in my opinion I would stick it a bit lon...

How did you potty train?

Thanks for your replies ladies. It's good to hear others are of the same mindset as me. We have a potty downstairs, which has a sticker in and when he wees on it a dogs face appears, which he loves (would highly recommend - got off Amazon). When we're upstairs and mostly at bath time is when he will wee on the toilet and he loves flushing the chain and even though he doesn't use tissue as it's a wee he likes to put tissue down and watch it disappear. I definitely think making it more fun helps. ...

How did you potty train?

So after posting this my lovely friend came for a visit, who has 2 children, and gave me great advice on what to do re training. I'm going to bite the bullet and commit to training and prepare myself for lots of accidents I guess I was baffled because when he has a pull up on he will pull it down to wee on the potty or toilet but when he was wearing his underpants on Sunday he just weed in them. As my friend said they can easily forget at this age and be preoccupied in something else. I still ha...

How did you potty train?

Hi All Just after some tips and advice on potty training please. My DS is just over 2 and a half and for the past few weeks (for a majority of the time) he has been weeing on the potty or toilet (also known as Buzz Lightyears Spaceship!). We have been putting him in pull ups and when he remembers he will wee on the potty or ask to go and wee on the spaceship However, he is not comfortable doing a number 2 on the potty or toilet. When I ask him to tell me when he wants a poo he always tells me af...

Thanks Lynsey. I tried the Vicks on DS's feet when he had a cold as a baby but it never worked. May try it with DD. I use Snuffle babe though. Maybe I should try proper Vicks but can it be used on a 6 month old?! Will nip to the chemist to check. What age do you look after at nursery? My son is just over 2 and a half years old. He loves it and has been there since he turned 1. We're in the process of potty training (finally!) and nursery have really helped us with it. He does all his wees on the...

NEW PARENT CHAT THREAD

Hi everyone Long time no post again sorry! It's gone from weekly to monthly LOL! Lynsey - welcome and congratulations on becoming a mummy. You mentioned DS was teething - I suspect it's that that has caused the nappy rash and the wipes have probably aggravated it. When they're teething they dribble loads and swallow a lot of the saliva, which can make their wee more acidic hence the nappy rash. I swear by metanium. When my DS had bad nappy rash we put loads of metanium on then smothered sudocrem...

NEW PARENT CHAT THREAD

Where is the time going?! Seems ages since my last post - and it was LOL! WMG - hope your dad is OK and improving. Sorry to hear what happened. Hugs x Amy - don't worry. My DS's speech has only come on loads the past 6 months or so, since he turned 2. Now he never shuts up LOL and there are still lots of words that aren't clear or only me and DH can understand. The grandparents still look at us confused wondering what he is saying but we know what he means because we are with him 24/7. I don't t...

Hi Rocky Lovely to hear from you. Sorry to hear Edie isn't sleeping well. Have you heard of sleep regressions? I've attached a link (should I include not FZ endorsed?!) Why the 18 Month Sleep Regression Can Be One of the Hardest | The Baby Sleep Site - Baby Sleep Help | Toddler Sleep Help | Personalized Sleep Consulting She could be having the 18 month sleep regression a bit ealier I know it's hard as N went through a tough one last year (from March till about June or July). He woke in the night...

Hi everyone Sorry not been on for ages. I got a tablet for Christmas so been on that instead of my laptop and for some reason everytime I log onto FZ from the tablet the screen goes blank as in their webpage. Hence not posting but I see most of you on FB. Belated Happy New Year and I hope you all had a lovely Christmas. Just been scanning over all your posts. Sounds like weaning has started for some of you. I am starting DD on baby rice this week. How long did you do it for and then what food di...

NEW PARENT CHAT THREAD

Hi everyone Just echoing Moogle and RG. I read your posts often but as soon as I go to type a reply DD or DS need me. So just wanted to say I hope all the poorly babies are better soon in time to enjoy Christmas. Can't believe this time 3 weeks it'll be over! I haven't even stated my Christmas shopping yet. Well bought a few presents online but nowhere near finished. Very disorgaised, which is unlike me. Have a wonderful Christmas if I don't get on before

Daily Routines, The Witching Hour and Sleep.

Where is the time going?! Seems like ages since I last came on here. Rocky - I agree with the others, hold off snacks if you want him to eat a proper meal. I'm sure I saw on the 3 day nanny programme (may be able to get it on 4OD) about a mum whose son refused any other food but nuggets. It was interesting and he was eating loads more other food by the end of the 3 days. I know Harry is still quite young but could he help out when you're preparing a meal to make it more fun and he may want to ea...

NEW PARENT CHAT THREAD

Cheers for the advice re naps. I personally prefer routine so hopefully as she gets older we can get one established as I really do believe they thrive on it. DS had a routine, I just can't for the life of me remember how old he was when we started one, maybe 5 - 6 months. He was bottle fed and I do think it's easier to set a routine as when you are BF on demand it kind of buggers everything up LOL! Sorry to hear we have lots of poorly babies in the thread and Net too. That norovirus is nasty. A...

NEW PARENT CHAT THREAD

Hi ladies Hope you're well. Quick question re naps - how often does your LO nap and for how long? Naps are a battle with DD and she cries no matter what. She does eventually fall to sleep but it can take up to an hour trying to encourage her to sleep. I do place her in the crib but she screams so I find myself rocking and shhhing on and off until she eventually falls asleep. Anyway, she is asleep now after a bit of a cry and nursing. She fell to sleep at 9:15am. Would you leave her to sleep for ...

Daily Routines, The Witching Hour and Sleep.

Hello ladies Where is the time going? Life is certainly more hectic with 2! Even though I am lucky to have N in nursery 4.5 days a week I'd forgotten how demanding a newborn is. DD is so much different to DS. Not sure if that is because she is breastfed. Sleep is a battle. Not at night because I have fallen into the routine of going to bed with her when DS goes to bed. I BF her in bed and she sleeps on my chest for the majority of the night. I do try and place her in the crib though if I haven't...

NEW PARENT CHAT THREAD

RG - just wanted to echo what the others have said. You're doing a great job and if you need happy pills to help get you through the first difficult months - which they are because being a parent to a newborn is (I think) the hardest job in the world. We are trying to understand this little human and do what's best for them and it takes time to get to know each other and know our childs needs. Understandably too after what you have been through with Evie. I can't even begin to imagine that heart...

NEW PARENT CHAT THREAD

Hi RG I demand feed but have been trying to get her to go at least 2 hours between feeds. It varies each day though, some days an hour, sometimes up to 4 depending on how long she has napped. I wish I had a set routine as I thrive on it as much as babies do. Have you tried putting one of your tops in Isla's basket? Honestly I swear it works. I don't wear a bra in bed at night so leak milk on my PJ top - gross I know but I find a bra in bed too uncomfortable. She has just gone down for her 2nd na...
